    Alpha and Beta of what?

If you are talking about newer/older versions of stuff, Beta is newer than Alpha.

    A general classification:
    • Alpha versions are always "known unstable" and are more a preview and open a discussion about the general style.
    • Beta versions are generally made to find errors. They are close to a release.
    • RC (release candidates) are the last test version(s) planned for a final release. The may be perfect.
If unsure use neither alpha or beta, but the release of the previous version.
