    I was thinking this one

but then the guy in that post mentioned some Miight release which should be easier to install and be better overall.

I need something that's pretty straightforward, runs only from the SD card and doesn't so much as touch the NAND, if there's a functional and good enough Linux distro for Wii that's easy to install and use I'm actually willing to buy another 4 or 8GB SD card just to use my Wii as a 3rd linux machine which would pretty much turn the thing into a small, weak computer.

All this started with me running Windows 3.11 on the wii and now I want an actually functional real OS instead of that ugly ass clunky piece of crap OS on my Wii [IMG]

    Thanks
I've been using Ubuntu for a while now so I'm used to a simple, gui heavy interface and deb files for installing stuff with, are Gentoo based Linux distros as simple as that?
Keep in mind I'm a simple user and not a programmer/coder or anything.

Gentoo is one of the more difficult distros to learn, but definitely worth learning.

Since Ubuntu is Debian-based, XWhiite would probably be a good choice for you.

XWhiite it is then, there's one thing though.
I was reading the guide on how to install linux and it keeps saying that one of the partitions on the SD card should be FAT16, I could swear my SD card is formatted to FAT32 and the Wii has no problems reading FAT32 SD Cards, so does it have to be FAT16 for White Linux to work right or are they saying FAT16 just to be safe or something?

Shouldn't matter, as long as the Homebrew channel can read from it.

    I used Fat32

Muzer was working on the "ultimate" wii-linux distro if I remember well
There was also this guy who said he would compile the DS emu to work in the distro

These were months ago, we are still waiting for any progress...
