hi, i recently purchased a canon ixus 860 or sd870, and i got it over the 950 as it had a wide angle lens, i thought that meant it can take photoes in 16:9 format or something, however, i only found out it doesn't
doing a lil bit of research, in a review it said :

Its zoom range starts at the equivalent of 28mm (in 35mm terms), making it usefully wide for including all your friends in group shots without excessive use of elbows.

so what's different about wide lens that makes it useful in "including all my friends"?

Wide angle is the opposite of high zoom. You will get a larger view angle from where you are standing, but individual people and objects will be smaller in the picture.

oooooh so basically it allows me to take photoes fitting the same amount but at a closer distance, whereas other people may have to stand further back to fit same amount in?
