I don't really mind if it's going to be announced this year or not. Anyways, in your opinion, what should Nintendo put in their Next-gen console? Hardware, Gimmicks, Whatever features you'd like to see in it.

Note: Please move if it's not in the correct section.

This may look like a troll post, but it really isn't. If I wanted HD quality, I'd have bought a PS360. Same thing if I wanted "hardcore" games. The irony is that I can afford those, but due to my job that brings in all the cash for it, I don't have the time for it. So I'm more than happy with casual "there's an enemy...jump on its head" games. And I don't think HD would add that much.

I'd say "a way to play games from a hard disk"...but the wii has that already (though not official).

id like it if they could work out a good network/online play setup. the wii has never been accused of having remotely decent online play. it would be nice if they get their head out of their asses in that department.

id like to see games for big kids that dont look like cartoons. out of the 10 or so wii games rated M, every single one of them looks like a cartoon (madworld, redsteel2).

also, im not sure how to say it, but theres a couple things in games that annoy me. i cant turn on a single game on my ps3 without it telling me that im not signed into psn. its annoying, and im not ever gonna be signed in, i dont need to be reminded of it. and sometimes when i turn on guitar hero 6 for wii, it tells me that im not signed into twitter and facebook. duh, you stupid game. and im not gonna sign into this stupid shit. you dont need to tell me. it would be nice if they could do something somehow to avoid this garbage on the next nintendo console.

Anything but HD... seriously... unless the graphics are absolutely outstanding. I presonally don't care about graphics but I can't bare the thought of millions of Microsoft ad Sony fanboys taking the mickey saying Nintendo actually tried to make good looking games. At least at the moment we can say that Ninty don't focus on graphics....

HD.

HD.

HD.

HD.

I spent $1400 on my TV, let me see my Link in 1080p already. I've never been all "doopty doop gfx" but it's really the one thing seriously lacking on the Wii. I think Galaxy (1 and 2) are the only games that look.. "good" on the Wii.

I'll reiterate. It's not that Nintendo needs to focus on cutting edge graphics.. 99% of the Wii library looks.. bad.

tbh I would rather just have a controller.

Now we have a wiimote + nunchuck, but some games require a motion+ inbetween, some games support gamecube controller, some dont, some support classic controller but you need to attach it to your wiimote which will get in your way etc etc etc.

ONE controller scheme, please!

Just better games. I could care less for HD graphics because I'm not a whore like most gamers out there. I just want good, fun, enjoyable games and not craptastic, over saturated party games and shovel ware.

I just wish the controller didn't require any batteries. You know, just plug-in and charge.

Oh, now you mention it: I'll +1 this request.

Well...I don't mind (rechargable) batteries, but a way to recharge the controller without having to unwrap condoms and semi-dismantle the thing would be nice.

@StupidGamer1: I don't mean to be cynical, but...how are you going to stop them? Making games costs a lot of money, and not everyone is willing to pay the full price for "a game" (I'm not even talking about pirates). Shovelware, ports and budget games are the result of that tendency, and it's only if everyone manages to succesfully not buy these games that they will stop being produced. Until that time, that's how it is. Sure, nintendo can deny them access, but that won't improve the quantity of succesfull games.

NO. MORE. F**KING. GIMMICKS.

Wiimote must go. Aside from that? Mario, Sonic, Megaman, Metroid, Zelda, Kirby, and maybe even another Mario Kart(one that doesn't suck ass, please).

Well since it's rumored to have a controller with a touchscreen and dual analog sticks. There is also said to be an updated Wii Remote and Nunchaku combo as well so it can do motion controll a ton more accurately than the current wii's controll + it will be better than sony's move, of course it isn't going to be anywhere near as good as Micrsofts Kinekt, but Kinekt just isn't ready yet so most games that take advantage for it are rubbish you expect like most wii childish games.

Another rumor is that the Wii HD will include a triple-core IBM PowerPC, AMD R700 GPU (more powerful than the PS3's Nvidia chip and 360's r500 ATI family GPU), output 1080p, and could also support 3D with glasses. Perhaps 512mb - 1gb of ram. This will definitely be true, it will support all Wii and GC content + saves no doubt and online ability from the old redundant Wii Revolution. It would act like the current Wii and shut everything not required to be powered whislt running in GC or Wii mode. I'm pretty sure you wont see official blueray playback on the machine neither.

Size-wise, IGN says it could be as large as the original Xbox and styled like a modern SNES. It'll retail for about $350-400 and could ship as early as October (as opposed to many 2012 launch claims). Now this rumor is believable, not only is half decent hardware very cheap now, it's obvious the new successor can only sell for around £250 maximum and obviously can only get around the size of a XBOX with new "safe" and reasonably "powerful" hardware, i'm sure it will have a few very good arctic freezing silent fans too.

.....

IGN also says Nintendo is considering calling the console "Stream." Does that mean there's a focus on streaming micro-content from the console to the touchscreen on the controller? Or is that a hint at advanced streaming video and video game content? Both are plausible, but if it was the final name, I'd wager it'd be the former.
As the wise creator of Mario Shigeru Miyamoto cautioned in a recent interview, "Don't believe everything you read" on the Internet.
Now this wouldn't surprise me, most people are on a minimum of 2mb broadband speeds, the average probably 10mb? so why not actually use this internet speed? This could be a way of acting the controller as a hard drive or simply a menu navigator or to help in certain games, either way it would be a high res screen.

........ With the rumors in place, that's pretty much exactly how i expected the successor to be since the current Wii is dying and Nintendo knows this, they are losing a huge fanbase to other consoles or better yet to PC.
Most people have decent TV's nowadays so playing a console from the generation of the PS3 and 360 and looking like a megadrive is a turn off.

What do I want? An online service similar to that of xLive, with the ability to chat to friends using your headset etc. A really powerful service that is constantly updated to lock out cheaters and fix bugs at a fast rate.

I expect to see major games developers give the Wii successor a chance and actually develop games solely for the Wii. Re-release previous PC/console games onto the machine and take advantage of it's newer hardware, so games like Crysis 2, Section 8 prejudice, etc.

I would like to see 60fps in every game.

DX11 visuals. DX10 at a minimum.

Minimum of 2xAA.

At-least 250gb hdd space and that's all.
