Well since it's rumored to have a controller with a touchscreen and dual analog sticks. There is also said to be an updated Wii Remote and Nunchaku combo as well so it can do motion controll a ton more accurately than the current wii's controll + it will be better than sony's move, of course it isn't going to be anywhere near as good as Micrsofts Kinekt, but Kinekt just isn't ready yet so most games that take advantage for it are rubbish you expect like most wii childish games.
Another rumor is that the Wii HD will include a triple-core IBM PowerPC, AMD R700 GPU (more powerful than the PS3's Nvidia chip and 360's r500 ATI family GPU), output 1080p, and could also support 3D with glasses. Perhaps 512mb - 1gb of ram. This will definitely be true, it will support all Wii and GC content + saves no doubt and online ability from the old redundant Wii Revolution. It would act like the current Wii and shut everything not required to be powered whislt running in GC or Wii mode. I'm pretty sure you wont see official blueray playback on the machine neither.
Size-wise, IGN says it could be as large as the original Xbox and styled like a modern SNES. It'll retail for about $350-400 and could ship as early as October (as opposed to many 2012 launch claims). Now this rumor is believable, not only is half decent hardware very cheap now, it's obvious the new successor can only sell for around £250 maximum and obviously can only get around the size of a XBOX with new "safe" and reasonably "powerful" hardware, i'm sure it will have a few very good arctic freezing silent fans too.
.....
IGN also says Nintendo is considering calling the console "Stream." Does that mean there's a focus on streaming micro-content from the console to the touchscreen on the controller? Or is that a hint at advanced streaming video and video game content? Both are plausible, but if it was the final name, I'd wager it'd be the former.
As the wise creator of Mario Shigeru Miyamoto cautioned in a recent interview, "Don't believe everything you read" on the Internet.
Now this wouldn't surprise me, most people are on a minimum of 2mb broadband speeds, the average probably 10mb? so why not actually use this internet speed? This could be a way of acting the controller as a hard drive or simply a menu navigator or to help in certain games, either way it would be a high res screen.
........ With the rumors in place, that's pretty much exactly how i expected the successor to be since the current Wii is dying and Nintendo knows this, they are losing a huge fanbase to other consoles or better yet to PC.
Most people have decent TV's nowadays so playing a console from the generation of the PS3 and 360 and looking like a megadrive is a turn off.
What do I want? An online service similar to that of xLive, with the ability to chat to friends using your headset etc. A really powerful service that is constantly updated to lock out cheaters and fix bugs at a fast rate.
I expect to see major games developers give the Wii successor a chance and actually develop games solely for the Wii. Re-release previous PC/console games onto the machine and take advantage of it's newer hardware, so games like Crysis 2, Section 8 prejudice, etc.
I would like to see 60fps in every game.
DX11 visuals. DX10 at a minimum.
Minimum of 2xAA.
At-least 250gb hdd space and that's all.
