My buddy's Wii has the basics: cIOS Rev14, USB support (installer from mplayer_ce page), sd card with NeoGamma, some emulators, mplayer_ce, etc.

The other day an emulator crashed and outputted some text on a black screen and rebooted his Wii.

Now, all the files on the SD card were deleted except for NeoGamma.

I brought the sd card home, and put all the apps back on the card including mplayer_ce.

Now, mplayer_ce used to play back dvd's flawlessly. I put the SAME version back on the card, and now dvd's won't play.

What could be causing this?

did he happen to update to 4.2? That would make things not work. plz give us a little more info
Also i have a friend whos sd card is crap and every so often i have to reformat his card and re add the apps, only to have them get corrupted again in a few uses. But check his sys menu version, if u had him on anything other than 4.2 and he updated, it killed your cios and such

4.2 will delete DVDx.

For that reason, an update to DVDx was released that won't be deleted, but that update won't work with existing apps without the apps being updated too.

So if you installed 4.2 or updated DVDx you'll have to find a version that works with the new DVDx.

You should be able to install cIOS 202 from either the mplayer_ce installer found in the downloads section of their google code page or as 60 merge 38 with hermes rev 4 installer.

Try again after installing that.

4.2 would not delete anything off of the SD card... It would only write stubs at IOS 202, 222, 223, 249, 250.

It's not from a 4.2 update. I've had 4.1 SysMenu on his Wii for a long time now.

I did just recently upgrade his HBC Channel to 1.0.5 IIRC. Could that be the culprit? Ver 1.0.5 is when the new TID for HBC started yes?

Would I need to reinstall the latest DVD-X? I didn't do that. Maybe that's why the dvd's aren't playing anymore.

You can try a DVD-X install. But all you should need to do is install the mplayer_ce cIOS 202. you can find it in the cIOS folder at my files link in my signature.

I had it installed before. Can I just reinstall over the previous version (if it's even there anymore)?

Or should I look for it with AnyTitleDeleter MOD and then reinstall?

Is the dol cIOS 202 file an offline install? Or will I need to hook my friend's Wii up to net first?

ON THE PC:
. Start the NUS downloader. Be sure that Pack -> wad is NOT selected.
* NUS (IOS > IOS 37 > v3612)
* NUS (IOS > IOS 38 > v3610)
* NUS (IOS > IOS 60 > v6174)

. Time to copy the files. You need to make the folders yourself.
* Copy the contents of the new folder 0000000100000025 to SD:/00000001/00000025/V3612/ (or USB:/00000001/00000025/V3612/)
* Copy the contents of the new folder 0000000100000026 to SD:/00000001/00000026/V3610/ (or USB:/00000001/00000026/V3610/)
* Copy the contents of the new folder 000000010000003C to SD:/00000001/0000003C/V6174/ (or USB:/00000001/0000003C/V6174/)

ON THE WII:
Run the installer.

It will overwrite if you have a previous installation. It will install if you have not yet installed it.
