What would be the best dog to get?

THAT is why siberian huskies are fuckin' awesome.

And don't worry too much about climate. Nanaki doesn't like heat much but we just walk in the shade wherever possible, or stop to get him a drink once in a while if it's truly an inferno outside. He doesn't leave fur everywhere except when he moults twice a year, which isn't a problem. I just take him to the local park and give him a damn good brush. Gets rid of loose hair without it being all over my floor.

Well, I live in Ohio if that tells you anything about weather and climate.

The dog also has to be a inside dog as our community doesn't allow outside dogs. Sucks I know.

I want to say congratulation for getting a dog. However, why do you want a dog ? The same thing for people wanting to have a human baby.

A dog is a long term relationship and a serious commitment.

A dog need you which mean you gotta give up your life for your dog.

A dog need a plentiful of attention and love.. A LOT!

Medical and dentist = more money to your dogs out of your pocket.

I have had a dog of 14 years -- thats his lifespan -- I will get a new puppy in the near future because I loved dog like a human baby and I hope you not to give your dog when you realize that dog wasnt for you.

A dog is not mean to be outside in the dog house. Thats wrong. You should check it out on the Google. Some people do that to the dogs outside in the dog house.. They are cruel and heartless.. Really wrong.

Please think twice and if you still knew and still want a dog then I am very happy for you. A dog will be best things ever happen to you and your life ever! All dogs are not dangerous.. A human is dangerous to dog that taught a dog to be dangerous. All dogs are not for EVERYONE.. NONE! All dogs are meant to be for people who deserve to have them for a long term commitment and loving without abuse and punish them. Be wise.

Not necessarily.. there are some huskies here in Florida.. just shave them and make them beautiful and keep central air conditioning run all the time. They will be happy. In the winter will be perfect for them since the temperature will be 50 to 70 degree and dry. At night sometimes to 40 degree.. They will love it. Nothing's wrong with that as long as you are responsible to make sure they stay comfortable and cool all around the years.

Come on.. you gotta vacuum their furs like you get off the sheet and blanket from the bed. Your hairy are under the blanket/sheet as well. You gotta clean them up too. You silly.

I know the responsibilities about owning the dog. I know I have to feed and water him everyday, play with him, clean him, etc. I actually use to own a hamster, but I didn't very much play with it. It was one of those pets that you think you want but in the long run you don't and it was my first pet so I didn't really know what to do. It lasted pretty long though. I haven't had a pet every since unless you count the bird I have to feed and water because her lazy owner won't.

I just want a dog for the companionship.

Husky's can be good dogs if you train them. They also shed a lot and can be pretty high maintenance if you aren't willing to make sure they are groomed. Labs are good dogs. Corgis are pretty easy to train too and they're smaller so better for being indoors like in an apartment. Shiba Inu's are great companion dogs and don't shed as much either.

Inside dogs can be awesome
I know people that have beagles, pomeranians(awesome), boxers, huskies, yorkies, and dalmations(I used to have one) inside.
All of them were great inside except the Dalmation because it chewed up shoes, furniture, etc.

I just want a dog for the companionship.

On second thought;
here's what you should do.
Go to the local animal shelter.
Ask to go inside the cages with the dogs.
Sit down amongst them for a while.
And pick the one that has a personality that compliments yours.
(And don't discount those that hide in the corner. Sometimes they make the most wonderful friends)

That one will be a better companion to you than any particular breed you could ever choose.
Might be smarter too.

From my own experience, these are some really nice "companion/friendly" breeds:

English Springer (Medium-Sized dog, very nice and many are hunting dogs so they're often active)

Yorkshire Terrier (Very friendly and active, small dog, they sit on your lap often)

Either of these is a great breed.

One other thing to note about dogs is that the ones with ears pointing straight up (like terriers) are less prone to future ear problems than droopy-eared dogs (like springers). The less expensive trips to the vet you need to take, the better, I'd think. IF you really want a droopy-eared breed though, go for it. It's your dog.

Of course, sometimes the meanest breeds are the friendliest and the friendliest breeds are the meanest. Just get a dog you love yourself.
