You can't compare a softmod to a hardmod.

The best modchip imo is wiikey2.

I installed a Drivekey in a customer's Wii the other day and it was fantastically easy to install.

Works great as well according to the person I installed it for.

mods are going obsolete there's really no need for them now with usb. your better off spending your $ on a nice hard drive and ditch discs and slow loading 4ever.

maybe he has a bricked wii and needs a modchip to recover.

i don't like the modchips which are just attached at the cable from the diskdrive because you get only 3x reading speed. a "real" modchip (soldered or clipped to the drivechip) provides 6x reading

Hard mods aren't going obsolete... they cover completely different set of needs... and are a lot more worry free as compared to softmods where updates are always a constant fear and is very easy to accidentally brick your system.

exactly, and i'd hate to see what someone who bricked a wii cuz they didn't research it does with a mod chip they might not even try to know how to install.
whether they kill there disc drive with solder or even if it's on a wiiclip or is a cable cliping one they'd probably fuck that up too.
