What were you doing on this day, 23 years ago?

I was driving into work when I first heard mention of something happening on the radio. All business at work was rescheduled and we watched it all on TV.

4 years later on the morning of 09/11/05, my youngest child was born. He only lived 23 months, and this day is more important for us to remember him than the WTC. Everyone else can remember that for us.

I was watching/listening all the lies of the US government on TV after they killed their own citizens.

To this day, and after having access to all the counter opinions (many of them from very well known and respected professionals) about what happened on that day, and after viewing many videos about that event, I still believe in my first paragraph.

It's so sad that most US goverments have very diferent interests that don't include their own citizens' and their legit needs.

In my country we used to say that people has the government they deserve, because we all voted for it.

I just woke up in my home, after a long flight. This was supposed to be my leave from the Navy 🚢 . Went to the living room and my wife was angry and pointed at the TV. I said: ☹️ "Well.. I guess the Navy will cancel my leave".

That became my 3rd time in war. A sad day indeed.

On a good note [or.. maybe not],

She nearly Raped me To Death, before I had to go back. :tpi: :rofl2:

I was in school. We found out about it because one of my classmates came in late because she was at the dentists, she heard about it on the news at their. Another classmate's sibling worked at the WTC and she ran out of the room crying. My dad was out of town in Newark across the river, so I was also worried about him too. My teacher tried turning on the news or something on the tv, but all there was a crappy antennae that didn't really get good signal in the school, the TVs were really only used to play VHS tapes.

It was a weird time, I was obviously a child still at 10 but remember feeling especially vulnerable and scared all day and just hid under the blanket when I finally got home.

I was really impatiently watching to see my first episode of Yuu Yuu Hakusho, and instead the Tv was always showing something happening elsewhere. Then my parents came and explained to me the significance of the event.

Got to see the entirety of Yuu Yuu as an adult. Worth waiting.

I was only 16 and just came home from work. Turned on the tv and i saw the planes smash into the tv towers live on tv. Shocked and stunned. Needless to say i was watching the news for the next few hours when originally i was just about to change to tv out to play on my ps2 in the living room

This was posted yesterday, which was 12/9 for me.
What was I doing on 12/9/2001? I dunno - I was 3 years old. No idea. Maybe watching Blue's Clues or Hi-5 or something.

Whatever I was doing as a toddler, I was certainly wholly unaware of what had happened the day before. Didn't impact me in the slightest - I was a baby living in an entirely different country than the US. Now that I've grown up I can look back and retroactively feel the horror and shock, but at the time? Nope.

I was in Barcelona for an extra few days holiday as we were due to fly home that evening. Main memory of the day is the morons at the airport being told flights are obviously cancelled but hey, they got to get to work tomorrow... I had to tell them to fuck up myself!

Moaning that a world changing event and major loss of life means you can't go to work and get to sun yourself for another few days free of charge.... Oh the humanity!

I was going home from school. I did not learn the story until next day when i woke up to watch the morning cartoons and every tv channel was only showing one thing.

My sister came into my room and woke me up. She turned on the TV and showed me the burning first tower. Then we saw the 2nd plane hit. We knew that we would be seeing the results of that for years and years. The rest of the day was just everyone was walking around in shock.

Brother and me were at home. He was watching television, and IIRC I was playing something on the PC. He told me to come over, as "something was happening in the US".
Neither of us were very news savvy, so both the planes had already crashed at that time. Then again, we were (and still are) quite some time zones apart from NYC.
