I hope Im posting this in the right place.

I want to download MAME. I had it on my computer like 2 years ago so now I want to download it again.

I see there are 2 different versions of MAME. there's MAME32 and MAME 0.110. What is the difference between the 2? I seen somewhere that MAME32 is for windows only and if that's true then that's the one I need. I'm using Windows XP. So is MAME32 what i need? whats the difference between the 2?

    Thanks in advance.

Mame 32 is for windows, complete with a GUI to make it easier to use. Mame is for dos i think, and everytime Ive tried to use Normal mame as apposed to mame32 ive always found it to run alot slower. So go with Mame32

There are many versions of MAME. Some of them like Mame plus have extra controls that mame32 and mame don't have. Now that most computers are powerful enough to run most of the games almost all of the version will run well on any version. They used to have specific version for P4's and AMD chips etc. I think you'll like Mame32 though. You can set it up with pictures of the cabinets, flyers, and in game screen shots that are available from the main selection screen.

My vote for weirdest game is Monster Farm Jump.

Thanks guys for all of your help and thanks Dirtie for the link.

I also just read that it is now possible to play other people in games for MAME. I know back when I used to have MAME, that wasnt possible so I'm glad they added that. Is there a list of games where you can play people in?

http://www.kaillera.com/ is for online MAME play.

However, the MAME version used is generally a little lower than the current MAME version. Also, last time I played Kaillera MAME, everyone used an even lower version that the current Kaillera MAME version, and using the same version of Kaillera MAME as everyone is a rule due to compatibility issues.

    Thanks man. [IMG]

Also, I dont mean to be a pain in the ass, but I read the readme files that came with MAME and I couldnt find the answer so maybe one of yall could help me. How can I play with my USB controler? I know you can because I used to play with my controler when I used to have MAME before. Now I opened up MAME and loaded a game. I pressed TAB for the options. I went into the Player 1 controls and I tried changing the options but it only allows me to put in buttons from my keyboard, not buttons from my USB control. Is there something else I need to do? Sorry for being a pain. lol Thanks in advance.

You can try this -> JoyToKey

I don't know if it will work with MAME, but I'm pretty sure that it should.
