Why isn't there an option for Open?

Some people are all about the sharing and caring. :P

Click other.
I personally consider you very foolish if you leave your network open.
Not because of getting hacked in, but for criminals downloading child pornography via your network.
Or idiots that will use your network to post threats to others or use it for other criminal activity.

Gimme your adress and I'll show you how exciting it is :creep:
Maybe show you some other exciting things then :tpi:

I must admit that I am kind of grateful to the people that leave theirs open.
Gives me a chance to use the network to show something on Youtube or check the web, if I'm in a mobile internet dead spot.

I hope the security minded among you all have disabled WPS as well.

Anyway I am not a fan of wireless. When I do though then usually whatever is standard and likely to be acceptable to most devices (not going to mandate 5GHz wireless AC and some crazy business intended type of security or something), unless I encounter a legacy device in which case I will play to that if it does not want a compromised security setup (so basically not WEP).

That said laziness still means I theoretically have a SSID and password for a network that was rainbow tabled at one point (I forget the exact method but the "unique" digits in the SSID were a hash of the router serial number less a few digits and said hash also provided the WEP key, it was then possible to do a table of all possible serials and thus make a lookup of keys to SSID).

WPA2 AES only. I have two APs, one for myself and one for guests that's setup with AP Isolation. The only devices I use that use the wifi, though, are my 3DS, phone farm, and a laptop I rarely touch. Even my Wii I prefer a wired adapter with.

I used to have an additional Wifi AP card in my computer for DS network, computer acting as gateway using ICS, hidden ssid, firewalled to remove file sharing, with filtered IP and MAC, so only specific devices could access it.
But I just changed my computer the old mother board crashed, and there's no driver for that old card for Win7+ :(
My fav firewall is old too. default Win7 firewall is good?
It was great as long as it lasted on WinXP. Win7 is so bad I can't reinstall all my apps...
