Hacking what type of disc to use for gamecube backups

I have memorex dvd-r and sony dvd+r which should I use to burn my game cube backups. They will be multi iso also.
I used the sony to burn tales of symphonia and skys of arcadia but then I read here that dvd+r are bad for ther wiis laser. Also my friend has some dvds that are double the capacity of normals will those work for gamecube backups?

1. Don't mess with dual layer DVD's unless you know what you're doing. If you've never heard of dual layer DVD's then you have no business burning them.

What's with dual layers?
Even though the dvd-r are Memorex they are better than sony?

They're better because it's DVD-R instead of DVD+R.

What's with dual layers are that they kill your DVD drive faster than DVD+R. Besides, it's quite complicated to get GC multiboots onto a DVD+R DL.
