Hardware What to do with my aunt's N3DS XL? Won't turn on

Visiting family for Thanksgiving. Back in March I'd installed A9LH and Luma to her 3ds. She sees me playing Ultra Sun and forgot that her CFW would allow her to get it. She asks me to show her again.

But it won't turn on. She claims it worked fine when she used it 3 weeks ago. System looks fine, hardly a scratch on it. Power light does not come on. Charge light does when plugged in but power light and screen's remain off.

Does the power light come on at all? Like for a sec and then turn off? If that's the case make sure boot.firm is on the SD card.

No power light at all. Not even for a split second.

Also she's likely still on A9LH, so we'd be looking for arm9loaderhax.bin

It may have a faulty battery, trying buying a new one.

Well it won't be me, I'm only here til Friday and broke right now. I can try loaning her my battery (my personal 3DS is the same model) and see if it turns on

Nope, I tried that. It did not turn on even when plugged in. I believe that in the case of the 3ds the charge port only provides power to the battery and not the system in general.

It turns on with my battery, however.

Seems the problem was the battery. If your aunt wants to use her 3DS, tell her to buy a new battery from the Nintendo online store.

Already done, she's very glad it only costs about $15
