Are you referring to the serial reader or the GD-ROM emulator?

What exactly do you want to do?

GD-ROMs for the record can be up to around 1GB in size.

There is a device you can plug into the back of the DC, and load it with a SD Card. What size is reccomended?

Don't buy the sdcard reader, its crap, buy a gdemu or usb gdrom.
I have a gdemu and sdcard reader, and the sdcard reader is too slow for much games.
Gdemu is great,i have it with a 256gb sdcard, and it works fantastic, full gdi or ccd-cdi format ripped games.
