Looking forward to Planet Terror, loved Death Proof (though some didn't) but it is a shame that us Brits wont get the Grindhouse experience.

Also looking forward to:
Trick 'r Treat, Diary of the Dead, My Name Is Bruce (Bruce Campbell in a small zombie ridden town, people think he's Ash and he ends up killing more people than saving), Hatchet, 30 Days of Night, Sweeny Todd (hopefully the studios won't cut the gore too much), Beowolf, Ironman, The Dark Knight, The Watchmen, Control (love Joy Division), Doomsday, Inglorious Bastards, 1-18-08 (Untitled JJ Abrams), How To Lose Friends And Alienate People and The Cottage.

Was looking forward to Speed Racer, but Mathew Fox is in it and I think he is just a TV actor.

Due to the quality of some TV shows (especially crime/action/sci fi/animated ones) I have actually gone off films slightly, this is further exacerbated by computer games taking up time once that may have gone for films and with games getting ever longer with more of them it is a trend that looks set to continue. Looking back at my old amazon rental (they went to sh*t so I stopped with them) the vast majority of my rentals were TV or old films, the new major ones I did get (which tended to be only the highly recommended ones) were practically a waste of my time.
Do not get me started on the quality of cinemas either.

In terms of stuff to come I am not really waiting for anything from a major studio save perhaps My Name Is Bruce (which will probably become a DVD night anyway), some of the smaller indie film makers and non US/Canada filmmakers.

Also horror films: I heard the term torture porn bandied around thought OK I will see, hunted down Live feed, saw films, and Hostel: most boring waste of my time ever (I am probably a very disturbed individual but I thought it was comedy before horror, I showed them to my 11 year old brother and all his friends: same opinion). Tetsuo was far worse in my opinion and that was '89.

/end old man rant.

I'm looking forward to The Golden Compass (best books ever, so hopefully the films do them justice)

I just realized after reading this that I've read that book

I wasn't overly impressed by it as far as novels go, but I wouldn't mind knowing what happens in the next book in the series.

Oh my, you really need to read the other two books

At this stage you don't really have a clue what Lord Asriel is actually up to. The scope, my god, it screams epic, move over lord of the rings.

Northern Lights (The Golden Compass) is probably the weakest of the books, the second one really sets the scene for the dramatic conclusion. Such a beautiful story
