Hacking What might've happened to my friends 3DS?

He got a 3DS w/ a R4 card (Obviously not a real one for 3DS) and 1 month later the 3DS didn't recognize it, only it recognized game cartridges.
What mightve been the problem?

It (the 3DS) was updated (via Internet or 3DS game) and the card is no longer supported.

IIRC, Oil doesn't conduct electricity. It should still be able to start, albeit with some careful cleaning.

No actually, it didn't they called Nintendo to fix it, they declined and hung up. It's not working for them.

Worse comes to worse, find a guide and clean it yourself. You don't really have anything to loose. See if it still works after the cleaning. Does the charge light go on when it's charging?

I have answers guys.. I do..

They told me that their mom wanted to see what is so special about the 3DS and so while she was making Chicken Rice, she was playing on it, she got addicted and put in the wrong ingredient into the cooking pot, a fire started and yeah...

But I find this fishy, don't you guys find this fishy too? The 3DS had a lot of burnt spots on it.. I wish I can post pictures but then they sold it to someone who was willing to buy it in that condition on kijiji.

She began cooking the 3DS and continued to "play" with the cucumber that she had in the fridge. Then noticed it was burned, and said she dropped it in oil cuz oil has a low boiling point so it was frozen instantly. There was then cake that was thrown on the ground and Chuck Norris popped out.

But seriously... it sounds like the 3DS was just updated, and then the OP decided to try and cover up the story with a ridiculous story.
