I have been using Verbatim DVD-Rs with the Taiyo Yuden dye (burning at 4x using a NEC 3500a) and haven't had a single DRE using these discs yet.
Some games on cheaper bulk DVD-Rs I tried HAVE given me DREs.
what chip have u modded ur wii with shaunj66
whats the taiyo ryden dye or whatever
is better to use dvd+r for cyclowiz or is it the same as using dvd-r?
i want to buy verbatims now and before i want to know..
yea im going to bestbuy in a few minutes and wanna know what is BEST for my wiinja.... least DRE etc
Arita DVD+R 16x (burn at 8x speed and use booktype dvd-rom)
taiyo yuden is regarded as the best dvd producers in the world
the quality of the dyes/disk making at the taiyo yuden factory is second to none
i have burnt hundreds of taiyo yuden disks (admittly not for the wii as the current chips dont interest me) and have yet to produce a bad burn
how do u tell where ur dye from?
I have been using Samsung pleomax 8x DVD-R (burned 4x speed) and theyre working fine
hmm, i just got a 50 pack of verbatim dvd+r
hope these are ok...
or should i return?
No, you're fine.
The TY are getting much harder to find these days (in stores). All Sony (and I believe Fuji also) DVD+R 8x that is made in Japan is TY. Really though, any quality media like Verbatim should produce very "respectable" burns on any decent burner.
EDIT: I don't think these new modchips have probs with +R, but I'm not 100% sure. Should be fine though.
It's not much yet but if people add their experiences this could be a cool resource.
I'm using tdk dvd-r and havent had a dre with wii games since.
But with gamecube games I get dre's.
Does anybody know which media is beter for gamecube games.
Currently I am using Datawrite Titanium, burning with Nero 7 at x4, all games work perfectly for me! Burning on an NEC 3500 DVD drive. Happy Daze
Stivo, I also use TDK DVD-Rs for all my Wii games, no DREs so far.. I use FujiFilm DVD-Rs for GC games... not a single DRE there either... I tried burning a Wii game on a Fujifilm but I DREs.
I use exactly the same and no problems here too, touch wood!
is it all the same if dvd+r or dvd-r ?
