i am using now the sandisk ultra 32 GB class 10 ( its suppose the read speed is 45 mb/s )
i think the write speed for it is 15-20 or something
its great , but i notices some lag when i save in pokemon ORAS and XY
maybe its not have the same speed of the original cart ?

however , when i am in a single battle and the 3D is ON , i noticed slightly lag at the beginning only for a moment , then its full speed
when comparing it to the original cart , the original always have that weird lag all the time

what if i use a 90 mb/s read speed card ?
like this

will make it better ? or its overkill ?

i am using samsung class 10 32GB no lag in pokemon XY. i dont think it will make a different since there is no way 3DS is reading/writing data at 45mb/s / 15-20 mb/s

did you tried to save ?
in original game , the save is almost instant
in gateway with sandisk class 10 it save in 1 second
no other lag when 3D is off

Interesting......modchipsdirect offers the same microsd with there GW Ultra package. But you're having issues with it.

edit: also its the read speed that is necessary.

not an issue , its an experiment
i am testing how much the GW speed can handle

and maybe , i can play 3D battle without any lag ( even if i don't play 3D ON )

but i don't have enough money to test all the cards
so i am asking the people how already have this cards

The 3DS most certainly doesn't support UHS-3, so it won't be capable of those speeds anyway even if games could take advantage of speeds that fast.

I'd have to say :

for 3ds roms my class 10 evo 64gb mSD does fine, 3ds mode on/off.

for cia installs my class 5 pny 32gb mSD does fine, 3ds mode on/off.

So if a class 5 can handle 3ds mode without lagging than you probably have issues else where.

Considering I'm using a device to emulate 3DS cards, but actually storing the stuff on SD (MSD), I can deal with a little lag. Sure beats paying ~$40 for each game.
I spend $50 on a fast card and honestly, I didn't notice much lag and don't care.

I think it can handle 75 (80 if you're lucky) mph on the highway. Any higher than that and you'll be risking a ticket.

But yeah class 10 should be good enough.

Well i personally use a 64gb UHS-I card in my gateway and a 32gb UHS-I card in my 3ds no issues.

I'm gonna take a guess though that gateway itself (nor the 3ds) can handle UHS-I speeds and the card/s just default back to class 10 if the device can't do UHS speeds.

I use a couple of the bigger MicroSD cards in mine and I can tell you this. I went from having this PNY 64 gb MicroSD card in my 3ds to this AData 32 gb MicroSD card. I decided I didn't need as much internal storage and would rather use the larger one in my Gateway. Both are class 10, but the 64 gb is quite a bit faster. It is noticeably faster when I copy files to and from these cards on my PC. On my 3ds, they seemed to perform exactly the same. I've backed up several of my real carts and put them on the Gateway, and I can't tell any difference between the Gateway and a real cart. I had that 64 gb card installed in my 3ds when the Gateway firmware finally dropped, so I ran the 32 gb card in my Gateway for a day or so before I switched them around. The 64 gb card performed exactly the same inside of the 3ds as the 32 gb AData is doing now. It doesn't matter if you're talking themes, launching games, whatever. It is a bit faster than the 4 gb card that came with the 3ds, but you will in no way get the full performance out of any of those high end (Micro)SD cards.

I can't paste with my iPad but the Nintendo support pages have a list of "supported" or cards verified to work with the 3DS. many of those listed are the San Disk Extreme line which are faster UHC cards. Of course Nintendo only includes a class 4 from the factory, go figure. So I would agree it is very unlikely the 3DS supports the high speeds designed for applications such as high end cameras.
