70wpm when I took a test, but I can probably do it faster as that test made me type a lot of strange words

When I was in high school, I used to be able to pull off 150 wpm. I used to play a lot of text based games (MUDs) at the time

(yay for Aardwolf). Anyway, I've since dropped down to around 80 wpm.

Funny thing is that I don't "touch type"....my hands hover all over the keyboard. I call my kind of typing as "common typing", where when I'm typing words I'm familiar with (such as common chat talk), then I blaze through those easily at +100 wpm...but when I come to a word I am less familiar with, I slow down to around ~60 wpm.

I've seen people's funny reactions who watched me typing....they're like "you hands are all over the keyboard...how the hell do you know what key you are hitting?"

54 WPM. I am happy with it, the spelling is what gets me, but my WP is set to understand and atomatically correct my mispellings.

Edit-

people were using chat rooms in the mid/late 90's? I didn't even get a computer till 2002. Unless you count my Dos computer which I was using till then, behold it's 4Mb Ram!

Edit- Cuting and pasting I ony got 2065 WPM, how did some people get 4000+?

On average I seem to get 54 wpm. I expected a bit higher, but I almost always fix all spelling mistakes as I go which slows me down, especially when I'm copying something where I tend to get ahead of myself and type the wrong word.

According to those tests, I type 100 WPM (without mistakes, mind!).
I did have 4 years of training though..

Bet I could go faster as my hands are cold and Dutch is my native language.
