Yeah I was wondering this myself because in the comments people were saying things like 'Í got this instead of a Wiikey' so I was thinking wtf.
What other uses does this have than dumping games?

from DX:

In the Wii-Key menu, there is an option to back-up your games via the gamecube save card slot. Therefore, you will need this device which reads and writes to SD, in tandem with your wiikey to back-up games. After saving the files, you can put them on your computer, and merge them back together to form an iso file.

It's a normal SD-Gecko. Many Gamecube Homebrew use it, including disc dumpers (Softdevs is better than the wiikeys). But nowadays it's not really needed, since Wii-homebrew does pretty much everything gamecube-Homebrew can do.
