Controversial opinion, I don’t like what Ocarina of Time ended up doing to the Zelda series. So many games post-OoT just felt like they were trying to be OoT with very little improvement on the formula. Which leads up to the reason why Skyward Sword ended up being so mediocre. It kept the same tired OoT format in a game that desperately needed something new and interesting.

I liked both skyward sword, due to the controls actually, and OoT. I bought breath of the wild, but I haven't played it yet. I'm afraid I won't like it due to there being no big dungeons, weapons breaking, etc. sounds more like a western rpg, which I don't really like too much.

@Jjones
Yeah it was a ton of people's favorites, but I wasn't around when it was a revolution. I played it after the fact and the only word I can use to describe it is boring. Boring environments, boring story, boring dungeons, it's a slog. Majora's Mask came out a year later and was infinitely better imo.

Then again, I'm the dweeb who likes SS so my opinion probably doesn't count. However, I always see people cry about the sky being empty and uninspired in SS, but no one seems to care about the wasteland that is Hyrule field in OoT

The CDi games by far if we count those.

If we're only going with official games, then either Triforce Heroes or Zelda II The Adventure of Link. Mind you, I enjoy both of those games enough, but they're the weakest the series has to offer thus far in my opinion. And honestly I'd love to see a new game take another stab at the Zelda II format, there was a fantastic Adventure Time game in the same style for the 3DS (Hey Ice King Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?), and it's fantastic and really shows the possibilities that kind of playstyle can have if someone bothers to refine it and make it more accessible for modern audiences.

Star Fox Adventures, like come on people. Like not counting the cdi games theres not really a bad Zelda game. Either its ok or great. I don't think Ocarina of Time is that amazing but doesn't mean its bad. Surprised no one mentioned the ds games.
