The reason people insist there's a point to life is they think they're more important than they really are. I mean, a good amount of people believe the world is going to end during their life just like people have thought for thousands of not millions of years and they were all wrong. They can't deal with the fact that they're just another human of billions and billions that have lived and died and they're not that important in the overall picture.

But when there's complete randomness in life I find it hard to connect that with some deeper meaning. Young people die for no reason even babies before they would even have a chance to even realize any meaning of life.
