[gbatemp's politics section for most toxic]pretty sure everyone agrees here.
Nah. I am pretty sure I would die of boredom before I encountered anything that would see me drop my monocle. It is all very pedestrian really, and at best you get a few people that never quite managed to have a proper emotions detached debate before claim it is the worstest and a few that have not quite yet realised how useless politicians are and even if there somehow managed to be a good one then still nothing will happen because of the design of the system.
Though as ever citations/examples are requested. Times people claim it is the toxic I am never given examples of threads, users, behaviours or similar.
Anyway I think I have technically joined about 7 forums in my life (one was an iteration of a few so technically might be higher still even if it was the same domain, staff and topics of choice), 4 of which were to download something I needed and I never went back and only 2 are still active.
Have passively watched a few more. Prefer free form discussion but don't necessarily mind rules designed to laser focus things for actual technical stuff.
Those that pretend to be free form but are anything but ("free form as long as you follow our very specific world view"), those that handicap debate, and those where they are suffering under a clique tend to be the least pleasant places to want to add anything to.
