actually it is theorically 2TB because it is the maximum limit of the SDXC standard that the 3DS use, so they not exist to this day but they will in the future, and once we want to get bigger than 2TB we will need a new standard (SDUC) that will not work with the 3DS

ps: well its also the limit of fat32 partition size, but thats not what matter here, if that was the problem you could have a 4TB card with a 2TB partition only

ps2 for info:
SD standard was up to 2GB
SDHC from 2 to 32 GB
SDXC 32GB to 2TB
SDUC 2TB to 128TB
Damn you know youre stuff ... I would guess atm I have 80 gigs of games & the rest is movies .. 256 gigs is plenty of films & they upload more weekly .. I suppose I like the 3D movies & I travel alot .. & I'm a greedy hoarding fool .. If it's free..

Im not buying a 1TB but im curious to how much it would cost ...?
also fair warning the larger the card the longer system boot times tend to be

ps3 : when i say "the SDXC standard that the 3DS use" i of course mean by that that the 3DS can use UP TO SDXC (so SD and SDHC work too)

I think I could fill up a Switch with 2tb I think ... did the WIIU & Xbox 360 with 1tb hard drives the Ps3 with a 2tb .. But the New 3ds just doesn't have the stuff needed for such a massive SD card lool .. I would be watching 3D films until my eyes explode .. I'm getting a Switch for Xmas.. & I'm grabbing what ever the biggest SD card is no matter the price ( using my Xmas bonus to treat myself ) I hope a 2tb exsist then ..

I could live with that as long as it loads

A 512 gb sd card goes for like 80 something dollars right now, while 1 TB is $450. Makes sense.
The one I'm looking at is $44 San disk Ultra .. Just like all my others in my handheld consoles... I could live with that . That's all my games & I'm hoping about 100 3D films I guess

Show me where 2TB isn't fat32 limit
nitpicks
He asked that you could use. You cannot currently use a 2tb micro sd.
either way a 256gb or 400gb are probably better options than 1tb

this is a 400gb for a decent price. the next jump is basically $50 for 120gb extra on one card

Passing the video files through Handbrake to reduce the resolution to match that which is visible on the 3DS will like reduce the size of your videos significantly.

No 2TB is max as 2TB is fat32 limit
Thier chace try that one of two things happened. One it works takes 5 minutes to boot up the system and gba games take 10 minutes. Two 3ds just crash because too much Storage for system and never code for it and 1tb may be limit.
