Now that is a hard one... I can't really think of any other good racing game that is fun rather than Mario Kart...

I'll get back to you on that

I got asphat urban GT on its releasing day. It was not a bad game like many people addressed in their review, but it's not so great either.

EDIT: I just realized you're looking for BEST racing game. Well, Asphat Urban GT probably not the best racing game but it has its strong point. But we all should just stick with mario kart ds, it's such a great game I bought 2 of it just so my bro and I have our own copy to play lol

honestly i would say asphat urban GT/2 i mean no its not the best but there isnt much to pick from, the N4S games kinda blew donkey balls. diddy kong killed it with the touch gimmicks and im not even gonna mention micromachines.

I liked Diddy Kong Racing, although I found the N64 version to be better. The DS version kills the key challenges, which were great. It also adds the touch screen stuff before the race begins... not a nice way to start a race. Still, I liked DKR, plus it has online.

MKDS is the king, but the best car racing game id have to say is NFS carbon, then ridge racer.. I thouhgt ashfalt GT's were crap. Diddy kong racing isnt too bad for some fun, but it wont keep you entertained for too long... Unless your interested in being #1 Time trialer in the world...

Apart from that, there isnt really a whole lot in the racing department thats worth while. Oh, I didnt mind NFSU2 either, but alot of people dont like it for some reason.. And dont get me started on NFS most wanted. That game is hidiouse.

Racing Gears for the GBA! Haa.. Really fun, fast, plenty of upgrade options and car styles in 2d top down view!
Completed twice really reccomend it if you dont mind the single screen....

lol, I also bought NFSU2, also not as bad as people say.
although it helps to look at it like a rally game, just based in a city
controls are pretty hard, but once you master them- you'll find it rewarding

Well, the first day I got my copy of asphat urban gt on launch, when I started the game and gave it a try few mins I was like wtf this game is da shitz. But I got over some short points in couple hours and the game starting to get fun. Maybe there wasn't so much else to play back in 2004 so I paid alot of time playing on asphat lol

And I agreed with .TakaM the sequel to asphat is kinda crappy. Put aside the minor graphic improvement and pussy cat dolls lol , it didn't offer anything new to me and the physics and control weren't right either. Luckily I have R4 to test games out first now

I only played NFS Carbon a few mins and it's ok but god I just go back to mario kart ds for da win

For me I'd say a tie between Asphalt 2 and DKR. A2 seems to have the most fleshed out offline play but DKR has a pretty nice online setup. It's certainly nicer the Mario Kart. As much as I love MK (and I do!) the online isn't great at all.

So, yeah, they'd be my choice. If only A2 had online...

i'd go for NFS carbon. I love DKR for N64 but they unfortunately wrecked it for DS (as rare seems to always do with games these days)

Who said DKR had good online?
I can never find a game! It takes ages to even find a couple of people, and I do find them, they dissconnect, or they suck so bad their not worth wasting time on.

EDIT: Friends mode is great though. If you have 6 friends, it can be alot of fun.

but that game barely runs at native 4k

I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding

When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol

AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more

    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and nvidia is already doing ARM

i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus
