Can anyone please advise me on what is the best flash card available for the 3DS??

I've done a search on Google and there seems that there are quite alot available but I've heard that a few are fakes.

I would like the flash card to be able to do the following:-

play DS\DSI roms
play 3d movies (don't now if this is possible)
the ability to play 3DS roms

Am I also safe to update the firmware on the 3DS?

I live in the UK

Thanks in advance

The Supercard DSTWO is the best flashcarts available for the 3DS

As for the stuff you'd like it do
play DS\DSI roms It can play DS games just fine. As for DSi games, it can't run the DSi-enhanced functions.

play 3d movies (don't now if this is possible) Not possible. 3DS-Mode hasn't been hacked, yet.

the ability to play 3DS roms Also not possible. No ROM images have been dumped, yet. The tools required to dump the ROMs have not been made, yet and 3DS-Mode hasn't been hacked, yet.[/p]

Buy the 3DS games instead
On the topic of flashcards though, invest in a Supercard Two, with the built in CPU, it can emulate GBA and SNES games as well has tons of other features, but it won't play 3DS games and doubt it will any time soon. Which is good.

But wouldn't the SNES games be stretched/cut off due to the DSi mode resolution being smaller than 256x224?

Speaking of, hopefully the SuperCardDSTWO with it's CPU and Firmware/OS could potentially fool the 3DS into using regular mode so the higher resolution would be available. Can only wish there isn't too much disconnect between the 3DS media and the DS/i media to allow this.

Woah jeez, calm the heck down. No need to insult the guy. Besides, there are topics about this every other day.

As answered in the iEvo thread... nothing will improve Moonshell.

However there is the DSTwo, and it has it's own homebrew, but it has to run it's own special homebrew to take advantage of the faster speed and such, and even then it's not that much more powerful than the DS.

The DS series is old and weak. Buy a PSP or something else if you want good emulation and video playing.

I actually had the same question as the OP, but with different needs. I would love to play DS\DSI roms, and older system roms such as snes, gba and gbc, which do you think would best fit my needs? I was looking at http://www.oz3ds.com/product.php?id_product=16 with a 2gb memory microsd as I have 26 bucks to spend on one (due to a spending limit) but it doesn't seem to mention anything about what I want to do.

That's because it doesn't.

http://gbatemp.net/t290097-which-flash-cart-should-i-get

The only carts that runs DSi-only games is the iEvo, which is expensive and hasn't been updated in a while. Other carts will run DSi-enhanced games, but will run them as if they were in a DS, no matter what you actually play them in.

As far as SNES/GBA and such, the standard emulators are buggy and lack support, but the DSTwo's emulators are better (still not fantastic through)... but the DSTwo's ~$35.

Save up more, and if you want emulation on the go I suggest a PSP, it's better than anything on the DS (except for a slot-1 and slot-2 combo on a DS/Lite for GBA, because that runs natively).

Have a psp problem with emulation on there is it doesn't save ANYTHING in terms of emulation. I was looking at http://nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=149 with a 4gb microsd card, do you know anything about this one and if I would be able to work with the 4.5.0 update? Because I am getting a 3ds for xmas and wanted to be able to run ds/dsi enhanced games, dont really mind buggy emulators right now, I would get the DSTwo but I will have to wait until I get way more money to buy it.

What model, what CFW, which emulators? That's not normal, they should save normally.

The link I gave you earlier shows that's one of the recommended carts. The 4.5.x update for it is coming, but you'll want to wait until the shop gets the update and updates the cart before sending, just in case your 3DS comes with 4.5.x (or you can risk it if you have a DS/Lite).

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.

I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
