I bought a Wii U, and as soon as I turned it on, I could play all the games on the HD. While researching how to unlock the console, I read a little about some of them, and I looked into them to see if they had any similarities with the Wii U I have here.
- There is no app that says "dont touch me"
- No hashish app
- Looking at the console and HD data, it only contains games
- The console only has Homebrew Launcher, Netflix, and YouTube
I asked the previous owner and he said it was a long time ago since he hacked it. He said he bought a game to unlock the console.
I suspect it is Coldboot, but since I know almost nothing about the Wii U, I wanted more opinions on the subject and not to run the risk of bricking it.
I can send videos and photos for analysis.
If you are able to enter the Homebrew Launcher it's not Aroma. If the owner said he bought a game to homebrew it, it's not Tiramisu or Mocha either. And if there's not Haxchi or DONT TOUCH ME me app, it's no Haxchi or CBHC (Coldboot Haxchi). But those are all the CFW, so that means there's something wrong here.
Try looking at the Data Management on the Wii U Settings to make sure there's really no Haxchi or DONT TOUCH ME apps. And also try entering the Homebrew Launcher, then say if any error appeared or it launched just fine. Also, please check if there's any SD Card inserted on the Wii U.

It's probably not running CFW and he just used the "Brazilian method" to install games, those work without CFW, the drawback is you can only do it with games that were released on disc, and DLC is not supported. It isn't really used anymore due to the drawbacks. The upside is those games will still work on CFW and enable you to install DLC and eShop titles as well.
The game he bought was likely to hack the vWii since at no point was there any game based exploit for the Wii U (I think even to this day), for the longest time it was all through the browser, but you originally needed a game exploit in order to hack the vWii and you couldn't do it from Wii U mode.
I just looked and I didn't find Haxchi or Dont Touch Me on the console. Nowhere.
When I opened the homebrew channel, it wasn't starting, but then I saw that the SD card he sent didn't have a "wiiu" folder, I created it on the SD card and put the HL app in it, and it started normally.

I think the previous owner bought a game from the eShop, maybe Brain Age, and used xploit to unlock the Wii U, but I could be wrong. He said it was a long time ago that he did it.
He sent me a video where a guy put some files on the SD card, then changed the DNS so the Wii U wouldn't be updated, went to a website and activated xploit. So I'm not sure, and I can't find the damn files like "Haxhi" and "Don't Touch Me". I've looked for them more than once and they're not on the console or the HD.

This looks like Haxchi, so maybe he uninstalled the Haxchi app? But the weird part is that the Homebrew Launcher is still booting up, even tho it requires a custom firmware to work.
Try taking a picture of the Homebrew Launcher app (the icon on the menu), I've seen some versions of Haxchi that have the Homebrew Launcher image instead of Haxchi's one, and that may be the case.

@Yu_ri You don't even need to take a picture, already found some examples!
So, if it looks like this:
It's most likely the normal Homebrew Launcher.
But, if it looks like one of these:
It's most likely Haxchi but with a different name/image.

I think it's possible to see the icon.
the icon. Apart from all the details I've already mentioned, he has Assassin's Creed Blackflag on his HD, but the game doesn't appear in the list of games on the HD, only when I go to "data management" and look at the HD. I don't know if this was the game used for the xploid, I'm really learning, but I don't think so, lol.
After I put the HL files on the SD that came with the console (2gb SD, so it's almost certain that he didn't use it on the Wii U), I can access the application, I don't know if this is possible if it's Haxchi, correct me if I'm wrong.

By the picture, it seems like that it is in fact Haxchi! But with a custom icon and name. Some YouTube guides like this one used to modify Haxchi a bit to make it easier for most people understand.
If you want to be 100% sure it's Haxchi, you can see if, at boot, a black screen with the white text: "Autobooting" appears. If it's there, it's Coldboot Haxchi, if not, it's normal Haxchi. Then, if you want to keep the console modded, you can either stay at Haxchi/CBHC, or upgrade it to Tiramisu/Aroma.

I just looked and it only says "Wii U" on a white screen, nothing about "Autobooting" appears, it just starts and I can play the games that are on the HD.
Is it difficult to remove this unlock? I ask because, if that's the case, from what I've read and heard, if I do something wrong, I'm sure I'll get a brick.

Haxchi is one of the easiest ones to remove, you just uninstall Haxchi (in your case, the Homebrew Launcher) and the Wii U isn't jailbroken anymore! Only the cold booting ones require a bit more of work.

In the case of the Wii U that I bought already starting unlocked, I can play the games that came on the HD, without any "autobooting" screen. So would I have to uninstall HL using CBHC (Coldboot Haxchi Installer) to avoid the risk of bricking?
Sorry for the "stupid" questions, but I'm really being careful, because I'm anxious to explore what a Wii U can do unlocked (I only have experience with other consoles, this is the first Wii U I've held in my hands, I didn't even understand the Wii, but I learned a lot after I bought one).

It's okay, when I wanted to upgrade from Haxchi to Aroma, I was also trying to get as much info as possible!
So, that's new, you weren't supposed to be able to play games directly after boot without cold boot. Do you need to open the HBL first to play the games or you can just go directly to the game after the Wii U's boot? Also, check if the owner forgot his account there, because if those games work without any custom firmware activated, they may be games the original owner bought from the eShop.
(I'm gonna need to leave rn, I'll answer the next post tomorrow)

I don't need to open HBL, I turn on the Wii U and I can play everything on the HD. One detail, I put HBL in the "wiiu->apps" folder and it opened normally, it even shows the Coldbot Installer, since I may need to use it to remove the unlock.
I asked the previous owner and he told me that the games were downloaded from outside, none from the eshop, I think only the one that was used for the xploid.

This is looking like Coldboot Haxchi. To be sure, try opening the Coldboot Haxchi Installer on the HBL (also check if the version is 1.6, if not, download it from here and put inside the apps folder),
then a screen should appear with one or a few games, one of them will most likely be "Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day!" or "Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training" (it can be other games too, but Brain Age is the most used one). Afterwards, select the game,
and another screen should appear, just press B on the GamePad.
If a few messages like the ones below appear,
CBHC is not on your Wii U anymore! But if an error message appears saying CBHC couldn't be found, it means that your Wii U didn't have cold boot! (if there are other games there, try with them too to check if they have CBHC).
When you finish uninstalling or checking and making sure it's not there, you can safely uninstall the HBL from the Data Management, inside the Settings App.

Anyways, in case you install Aroma now, you're able to install lots of homebrew apps, plugins and modules! And here are some that I recommend (I'll not list Aroma Updater (update Aroma and its components), as that comes pre bundled with Aroma):
Sigpatches (module): allows you to play games you didn't get from eShop, is needed for Pretendo Network.
HB App Store (app): allows you to download other homebrew apps and plugins, like most of the ones that I'll recommend here (Aroma Updater has this feature too, but only for 10 apps or so).
NUSspli (app): install apps and games from Nintendo's servers directly onto your Wii U (and also content from your SD Card/External HD).
Tiramisu (custom firmware): it's the CFW that came before Aroma, made by the same guy. While nowadays Aroma is overall better, you need Tiramisu to run some older homebrew, and you can have Aroma and Tiramisu at the same time, you just need to swap between them.
envSwap (app): makes swapping between Aroma and Tiramisu faster and easier.
Inkay [Pretendo Network] (plugin): allows you to play games online again, use the Miiverse again and much more.
SDCafiine (plugin): allows you to use mods for your games.
RetroArch (app): it lets you play lots of emulators and has lots of features (currently the Aroma version is in development, the one I linked is the Aroma one, but you can use the Tiramisu one if you want, however you can't have both of them at the same time).
Bloopair (plugin): allows connecting controllers from other consoles, like PlayStation consoles, Xbox consoles, Switch etc.
SaveMii (app): allows you to backup your Wii U and vWii savegames to the SD Card and also restore them.
Theme Manager (app): allows you to apply and backup themes for your Wii U.
vWii Compat Installer (app): allows you to install the Homebrew Channel on the vWii.
C2W Patcher (plugin): makes the vWii more powerful, good for emulators and mods that you wanna use on the vWii.
Enhanced vWii (plugin): fixes vWii's viewport and reenables the force power off.
FTPiiU (plugin): a FTP sever for the Wii U (access Wii U's files from your PC).
Screenshot Plugin (plugin): makes you able to take screenshots from your screen.
Swip Swap Me (plugin): swaps the TV and GamePad screen and offers different audio modes.
Wii U Time Sync (plugin): synchronizes Wii U's clock to the Internet.
And there are many, many more, but these are the ones I use the most . Also, as the Wii U runs Wii, you can also use most Wii homebrew, like Priiloader, USB Loader GX/WiiFlow, Emulators, WiiLink, Wimmfi etc. (just please don't install BootMii, that is for the normal Wii only).

Sorry for the lack of answers, the last few days have been very busy due to work and other unforeseen events (and to "make things better" my cell phone fell and broke, I'm now looking for a new model lol).
I looked here and the game that appears is "Big Brain (USA)". It doesn't appear in the list of games, so is this the game I should remove?

Anyways, yes, this is the game, now press A to select it, and then B to remove CBHC. If an error appears, check if there are any other games and try with them, if it still gives an error message, that means your Wii U never had CBHC, but if messages like the ones below appear:

Wow, I didn't know there was so much stuff for Aroma. And from what I understand and heard from other people, it's a good idea to keep Aroma and Tiramisu on the console, I'll do that. I'm already downloading everything you recommended (interesting to have an option to make the vWii more powerful)
I know this isn't the right place, but is unlocking the vWii the same as doing it on the original Wii?
And another thing, will I have any problems removing the eshop account from the previous owner and installing mine?

Nope, homebrewing the vWii is very different. You can read this guide to jailbreak the vWii, just remember that if you want to install any themes for the vWii, you need to do this before installing Priiloader, or by removing Priiloader, then installing the theme and reinstalling Priiloader afterwards.
Afaik you should be fine removing the original owner's account and putting yours. If he gave you his password and you want to delete the entire user from your Wii U, follow this guide by Nintendo. But if you don't know the password and/or just wants to remove the ID but keep the user, you can use this app.

Will I have problems using Pretendo Network if I remove the old owner's account and create a new one?
Since I'm going to remove the old unlock, is there any problem updating the console? I saw that his vWii has "the homebrew channel". Would it be better to remove the old unlock, format it and only then update it, or just remove the old unlock, update with Aroma/Tiramisu and remove the old account?
I'm going to update soon, I just need to have some free time. Do you know if I'll be able to create new Miis and profiles on the console with Aroma/Tiramisu?
Sorry for all the questions, I was looking for information about this and didn't find much. Thanks for your help.
