What happened to the direct download links to the latest version

There were direct download links to latest versions of files, for example, AKAIO had http://filetrip.net/h7853-AKAIO.html that would always point to the latest version.

Now I can't find them anymore. They used to be in the "Get URL(s) For This File!" box, but I can't seem to find them anymore. What happened to them?

If that were the case, why not get rid of the direct link to the specific version as well?

Because the most recent version gets by far the most traffic and thus the most revenue.

that is an issue but one that isn't the fault of filetrip.net. the site will evolve and change and you can't rely on it staying the same. perhaps it is time to host those files on your own?

The difference is you see a "thanks for downloading" screen first now, which previously was skipped.
