If your game has aged like milk and yet it's considered "one of the best games of all time" then it's overrated.

The original Pokémon Red and Blue are unbearable nowadays. They were unbearable even when Gold and Silver came out. We still played them because we had no alternatives.

I don't think "best of all time" can be applied to a medium that's changing as rapidly as videogames, you can have "most notable" maybe but "best of all time" isn't fair to either the older games that didn't have the hardware to compete with the "best" title, nor newer games that get accused of "copying" (there's an expectation in games of constant growth and improvement and if a game is merely serviceable it is criticized for being "more of the same" and "not bringing anything new to the table").

A lot of Sony games. I don't like The Last of Us but at least I see where it was going and what it wanted to do, in terms of narrative storytelling. However, Horizon Zero Dawn has always struck me as a low tier Ubisoft open world game. How it has a sequel, let alone a large cluster of fans shocks me. Equally confusing in popularity is Mass Effect. I can see why giant space adventure has appeal... But the story and characters are so boring and lackluster that I struggle to find what people enjoy about it.

I agree about TLoU it is very overrated imho. However, Mass Effect? I respectfully disagree.. In my eyes it can be described as Fallout in space (i guess?), with its own unique characteristics and twist on things, and i adore both very much..
