I hate just about every free file host I've tried. Can anyone recommend one that sucks less than the rest of them?

What type of website would you be wanting to set up? I can provide hosting for you if you know how to make your own website without a sitebuilder...

I'd recommend to get a root vserver, that's about 10$ / month where I live, and I've got 10GB storage and 500GB traffic with it... [IMG]

I'm not looking to host a website, just the random file now and then for posting on forums like this one. I'm certainly not going to pay for the privilege.

fischju: Thanks, I'll check turboupload.com out.

Anyone know of any other sites like that one that are good?

I like megaupload.com... some nice tools let you cheat it so you can get unlimited downloads... zshare.net is slow on the upload, but still nice.

Mediafire. It's just about the only one that works for me.

Myself and many others I speak to on a regular basis have been very happy with 4shared: http://www.4shared.com/

My only gripe is that is does not allow directory structure to be maintained (my old lycos site did but I do not suggest them) between updates but that is not that unusual and not hard to deal with.

As for rapidshare please avoid using it for it is a pain to find a working proxy server every time I (and anyone else with BT internet or AOL and other useless ISPs) want(s) to download something with it.

    edit
if you must use a rapidshare style site the following work fairly well
    http://load.to/ (sometimes good, sometimes bad)
    http://www.egoshare.com/
    http://www.savefile.com/
    http://www.putfile.com/
    http://www.badongo.com/
    http://www.filecabin.com/
    http://www.megaupload.com/
