What flashcarts are good in terms of battery life?

    Hi,

I'm looking for a flashcart that I can use on my 3DS for DS games. I already have a DSTwo but that cart eats alot of battery in sleepmode. I looking for a decent cart that gives good battery life. Most comparisons/guides etc. are based on what it can do and not really about battery life.

I have tested this in a few unrelated tests at points but the short version is I doubt you will find a DS flash cart that powers down a lot in sleep mode -- the DSTwo (and ISMM and iplayer) were noted for their onboard processors but all DS flash carts used some kind of programmable chip. The non enhanced ones maybe ended up a few mA more (more than enough to be lost in the shuffle if you had a different brightness or even between using the 3d engine, sound, wifi and whatnot on the DS) during normal operations but said programmable chip usually still ran during sleep mode which probably consumes some ten or more times the power of an original game in that mode.

Theoretically I could probably program a lower power mode for sleep times but it would have been a pain and I doubt any flash cart maker ever went to the effort.

Hmm that's too bad. Since the DSTwo seems to perform the best in terms of battery life when used I guess I stick with it...Thanks for your answer.

Remove the cart when you put the console in sleep mode, problem solved.
