I want to buy a DSi that's compatible with the flash carts that are available. What firmware is in the new units on store shelves?
Like I said, it's only up to 1.4.1, and any card worth it's salt works on 1.4.1 (after being updated).Rafinesque said:I know all about the flash carts (I've been doing this longer than some of you have been alive :-) )Considering I'm 23 and the DS itself is only six years old (which of course is a chunk older than flash carts for it), I'm going to have to call bullshit on that claim.
QUOTE(Rafinesque @ Nov 29 2010, 07:27 PM) I just want to make sure I get a compatible DSi. I had a DSi with 1.0 firmware, and sold it on Ebay, without realizing there are some hardware advantages, even for DS games (I already had two DS Lite's).

I'm not talking about DS. I'm talking about flash carts and such in general. I had flash cart systems that ran off floppy disks for the Super NES and other systems back in 1990, maybe earlier (actual flash memory hadn't been invented yet, or at least wasn't practical). I suspect that's older than some on this board
Here's a link to some of what we had to use back in those days.... I had about 1/3 of these at one point or another. My favorite was the Super Wild Card DX2.
