Hacking What firmware do really I have on M3DS Real?

I have downloaded the "v2.9" firmwares but every time I open them the version.dat file tells me it is version 2.51. What teh heck is going on? As a noob, am I reading things wrong? Can someone clarify this for me?

on your DS with the Real on it - when it starts up, click on the ? in the top right corner, it will tell you what version you have installed. I have the current and it says "M3 manager v2.9x version"
