    Away from civilization.
Read the rules, it's in them.
Bumping means you're posting so people see a new post in an old or new(days or week or so old) thread.
Gets pretty annoying, but sometimes people accidentally do it.

When you post in an old thread, you bump it.

Oh, I always thought it stood for the sound you make when you "bump" your topic up.

basically people are likely to read new topics in a forum (they rarely browse for old topics)
so when a topic has been forgotten -- a topic with no replies for a long time -- people can bump that topic
by posting a new message in the thread, they 'bump' the topic and give it some spotlight again

this isn't really a good thing to do. If you posted a thread in the trading forum and no one wants to sell/buy your stuff, it's pointless to bump your thread to say "hello, does anyone want my stuff now?"

Basically bringing up the past when no one already gives a damn about it from the present. That's bumping.. sorta [IMG]

Every time you make a post in a topic, the topic will fly back up to the top of the list in the forum/recent posts. So you basically "bump" your topic back to the top.

Some people bump their topics to get more attention (the topic will be seen faster because it's on top).

    You bump if
*you want YOUR thread to be alive again
*Ask a question on a popular topic that hasnt been replied one
    *You're just an annoying asshole
