reminds me of Imation's Superdisk drives and Iomega Zip drives, remember those? i think Zip kinda won since superdisk gave up but zip pretty much died also shortly after. whoever is cheaper will prob win, wonder if its just my local area but currently theres more bluray titles then hddvd so i'll cheer for bluray until a 3rd storage device comes along that spanks both of them

I think that's a useless war.. most people are still happy with regular DVDs and downloadable movies are getting more popular, in my opinion THAT'S the future! Both formats are losers..

blu-ray is kinda worth it for games

for movies it is a complete waste of space, what are you gonna do, put the movie on the disc 50 times to justify the size?
Plus the porn industry will only be on HD-DVD

HD-DVD is the winner, I'm sure sony will forge a win with the format, but there is no way in hell HD-DVD is going to lose.

No porn killed betamax even though it was the better format.

So it's HD-DVD wins or dual format players become the standard...

Stop with the fucking urban legends. Sony didn't ban porn on blu-ray, ONE porn publisher whined that sony didn't help him publish enough flicks on their format and the whole story was overblown.

The format is STILL gonna die, but probably long after HD-DVD.

What i've heard it's kind of owning hd-dvd atm, but things can always change.
And you can't forget that there's already like over 6 million ps3 sold which can be counted as blu-ray players. So there's already many buyers.
If i had a xbox360 i wouldn't buy some hd-dvd addon to intefere with my cool devices.

It doesn't matter if Blu-ray is technically superior to HD-DVD because it doesn't matter to the ordinary consumer - they don't get it anyways. Hell, these people can't even see the difference between HD and DVD unless they see them side-by-side. The ordinary consumer drives the majority of the market because they outnumber videophiles.

Toshiba is losing so much money on HD-DVD it's ridiculous, so even if they win, it won't last long since they can go bankrupt ( lol I don't think so. but still ) then blu-ray will be back on top especially considering the PS3 is the most selling blu-ray player/graming machine.

180USD a cheap add on?, hell I can get another console for that money AND a HD DVD player.
I think the 360 is no competition to the PS3 in terms of next gen HD playing support.

Right right selling like crap? HD-DVD just got 500,000 Standalone players the PS3 has song 11 times that, (5.5Million) maybe a little more. As a console it's selling pretty average, as a Blu-Ray Player it's selling REALLY good. Selling like crap your ass. Like America decides what format is what the vas majority will use.
