Is it more pathetic that people update their Facebook statuses for the smallest thing ever (Ex. "omg! making a sandwich! urrrg were all out of mayo!!!!") or something ridiculously life changing (Ex. The Rutgers kid that jumped off the G.W. bridge and made a status about it because he was video taped having sex with another guy.)

Personally, I think both are very unnecessary. If it's something small... who cares. And if it's something life changing, I doubt everyone on your friend's list needs to know about it.

If it's particularly life changing most likely people on your friends list will know eventually anyway.

Well, if it's that important to you, you will tell the people that you actually talk to/whom it affects. Not every person you have ever met needs to know it.

The thing says "What's in your mind?"

So, if that's in their mind they might as well post it.

If you find it that bad tell that to your friends and unfriend them if they continue. You're not forced to read it.

I like my status updates. My latest one was, "woke up to "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins. I only want 2 things now; Cadbury Chocolate and to watch Disney's Tarzan"
I think that is Facebook worthy.

Exactly why I limit myself to logging onto Facebook maybe three-four times a week, for a maximum of five minutes at a time. Can't stand how much information people post about themselves on there.

The statuses that people choose to post show the depth of their mind.
Maybe you've got too many people on your friends list that like to hear themselves talk.

I resent that. I have a horrible/shallow mind yet I am able to make insightful comments connecting songs to chocolate and movies. [IMG]
