You can also get a ban say for example you had Mario Odyssey nsp installed and you didn’t have stealth mode/90 dns connected and you booted the game and online activated that flags a ban as easy as that. There are so many easy possibilities to trigger a ban nowadays so don’t feel bad about it the chances of it happening eventually I would say 100%

Edit: get a third switch and I suggest this time keep it legit at all times don’t hack it! You have two switch’s for hacking the third keep original that’s my suggestion

I’m curious, if it’s just a game specific ban, would starting over with a new account on the same Switch work? What happens if you were to sell your Switch - would the next owner be locked out of online only for the games you were banned in?

Your first question, yes that would work without banning you, but if your old account goes into matchmaking even once, your console get banned in a few days/weeks.

Your second question, the console itself gets restricted not the account, any console's banned by your account are permanently unable to play that game online. so if you sell it, that person will be unable to play the game(s).

it's a game certificate ban, so the game itself wouldn't work even for a new, innocent user.

Yes, I think that was the case. but as i stated before, that isn't the type of ban issued in the context referenced in this post.

I believe your consoles are tainted on that specific game, so by using a new one, without that messed saves, you will be fine. You can also use the game cartridge as well.
