Hi Guys!

I am looking to "mod" my DS for a long time now and searched through wikis and stuff and finally just have some last questens.

What exactly do i need to play roms?
I know i can use a PassMe2 or NoPass to get a new Firmware on the ds (goes in slot 1?) and i need a gba -> sd adapter so i can put games on the sd card.

So, do i really need a passme? Its just flashing the fimware and i will never use it again?

Can i put more than one game on a sd -> gba adapter? Whats the cheapest one, which is a good choice? (i realy want a sd->gba adapter since i have enough sd cards and dont want to get any new cards...)

Thanks in adv guys!

You can do that to play NDS and GBA games.
If you only want to play NDS games you can get a Slot-1 solution, I have a R4 and I couldn't be happier with it.

Check the reviews of each product and decide which one is the best for you.

You mean a Slot 1 card that use standard SD cards? I don't think there's any, they're too big for that purpose.

69€ for the device + 1gb micro sd + usb stick and stuff.
sounds a little expensive to me.

This one is 50€

You'll need a micro sd card, but I'm sure you can find it cheaper than 20€

Enough games, trust me, you'll be surprised.

check out the n-card you dont even need a micro sd http://sky2k.com/shop/ncard-8gb-p-260.html everything you get with the the n-card lets you start stright away. the downside is you have to pick your save type and also you have to use a slot 2 card to transfer files. Its the cheapest card that has 100% rom compatibility and it also supports homebrew. i have a 1Gb card and i have 15 games on my card at the moment.

do you have the phat ds or the lite?

http://www.flashlinker-shop.com is based in Germany and has free shipping (over 50€).
The 1 GB DS-Linker (N-Card clone) costs 69€ there (actually not a very good price compared to the N-Card @ sky2k) and has a GBA-sized slot 2 card (Fits into the DS Phat).
And yes, you can play games from any region with it.

should i just update it with the newest ncard firmware and it will play homebrew and roms?

I know i ask a lot of questions.. but i cant find any good side which explains everything i want to know about the ncard.. you get just pieces of information on different places... thanks in adv.

All the updates are the same. The N-card where the first team to bring out the card and then other companys started ripping them off by using thier card but putting a diffrent sticker on it. So whenever the N-card team release an update all the other companys just change the skin and thats it nothign is diffrent.. So yes just update with whatever is the newest firmware it doesnt matter if its the n-card one or any of the clones they are all the same. S

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
