Aye, it's best to just get a Slim or Jasper phatty.

Couple days, I played a few movies and a couple games on it. I'd say it ran for a total of 12 hours before dying.

Are those models the most reliable/easiest to modify?

Jasper/Kronos is the most reliable of the Phatties (late '09 to '10 xboxes)
Slims, The Trinities (glossy slim ones)

Is there an easy way to tell a trinity console from a corona one?
