    Hello people.

For the purpose of HomePass I would like to create a section of Mac addresses for myself and a small group of people to share with so I can complete my monster manor game using only red shirted miis.

Do I have to do anything special to create my own set of Mac addresses to use?

Its been tainted with users who don't follow the rules. That's why I want to create my own set of Mac addresses to share with a select few people of my choosing. Can you please tell me how I can accomplish this?

I would assume all you need to do is pick one randomly generated mac address. Then using that as starting point establish a range of mac address by changing the last octet, which would give you 16 addresses to use.

Once you have your list of mac address just cycle through them as per normal using the SSID "attwifi"

That is the main purpose to this topic. How can I create my own MAC address? I understand you said I can create 16 different addresses from a single Mac by changing the last two digits but how can I get a random/unused Mac in the first place?

A google search for a "random mac generator" brings up a few sites that you can use to generate a random mac. As for whether it is unused or not, I am not sure how you can determine this apart from seeing if the address has been used in the google spreadsheet listing all the macs.

I do not really know what to say -- mac addresses are not magical crazy tech, just numbers.

Technically speaking a mac address should not be visible outside the local network and the address can be composed of anything from all 00 to all FF (here is a big list of known things http://anonsvn.wireshark.org/wireshark/trunk/manuf ) and as such nobody can guarantee they are not going to be used (even Nintendo's server though that would narrow things down a bit). All you have to do is plug one into the spoofing setup you are using. You might get unlucky and find it is shared by another relay (spoofed or otherwise), it is quite unlikely if you do it properly; for a single address you have slightly more than a 1/2^48 chance of a collision.
