Hacking What can I do to 5.5 wii u as of today?

I went to see what firmware it was and was sad to see it at 5.5.0.

I know there will be a release to exploit it but I am confused as of today what I can do.

I don't care about playing wii u backups yet.

Can I put home brew on there and play emulators for systems like mame and Snes?

Can I play wii games through an external hdd using the vWii?

What about GameCube games on 5.5?

I am a noob at wiiu but I got all these things to work on my wii but keep it around so a I can play the 100 games I got off the HDD.

You can do everything vWii related.
Install HBC, use homebrew, play Wii and GC backups, etc.
But always in Wii mode.

Regarding external HDD you will need one with external power supply or Y cable.

The best thing that a 5.5.0 Wii U can do right now is use TubeHax DNS and wait a little time (I mean, maybe Christmas, maybe not, it's close anyways).

The best thing that a 5.5.0 Wii U can do right now is use TubeHax DNS and wait a little time (I mean, maybe Christmas, maybe not, it's close anyways).

Take this suggestion into consideration, who know if they suddenly release a new FW and ruin the christmas surprise.

AFAIK yes. I am still on 5.3.2 thanks to Tubehax DNS.

That is weird, you can test it trying to enter the eShop, if you can enter, check if the DNS is this one:

Well, it appeared for me until I killed it by.... rebooting I think.
When I had the red X I wasn't able to install software from the eShop (I bought Xenoblade Wii and downloaded the XenoX data packs but they wouldn't install).
Really, I don't miss that red X.

PS: My FW is spoofed to 5.5.0, and I used the eShop access enabler.

You can't access the eshop even with Tubehax DNS if you don't do that before.
Unless you are on 5.5.0

PS: Are you on 5.5.0 or have you spoofed your 5.3.2 to 5.5.0? In case of the latter you need to use the eShop enabler hack.

I have internet, since I can play Splatoon online. BTW manually trying to update fails with an error, but still no red X. Checking update environment results in no errors.
