If you've just bought it, bad luck; you'll need a PS3 to activate it and to transfer a PSP game/demo.

no ive bought it 2 years ago. i cant dowbload demo because its asking for update.

The Vita has to be activated in order to play games from the memory card. That includes even PSP games. And the only way to activate your Vita at the moment is by using a PS3 and transferring some sort of content over to your Vita, which then activates it.
