Golden Compass as in Philip Pullman? They're VERY good, for kids and adults.

As for me, I'm reading the books of A Song Of Ice And Fire by George R. R. Martin. They're also VERY good, but I wouldn't recommend them to kids cause they have quite the difficult plot and there's A LOT of dirty parts in it [IMG]

The Covert-One novels by Robert Ludlum and also the Night Angle Trilogy by Brent Weeks.

EDIT: Holly Crap! Good job shinkukage09. I had never heard of anyone else ever reading the Rangers Apprentice series before.

Well apart from reading a ton of Translation related books (which is what I'm doing my master's in) I plan to read the Artemis Fowl series, which I read the first one and I liked it. But to anyone that enjoys epic books I recommend my favorite series of all time: The Dark Tower.
