What are your favorite openings?

You only have one chance to make a first impression, as they say in every job interview guide ever. While games may not be put on the spot in the same way, it can still pull you in with a sequence on boot that will stay with players when they reminisce about it.

I'll start with some of my favorite openings:

Discworld (PlayStation)



Formula 1 - Beyond the Limits (Sega CD)

The opening to Chrono Cross. This game is truly a passion project from Squaresoft, and it shows. Everything from the overkill orchestrated music, to the stunning CGi video sequences of that time. The story was great, the loadtimes were very short, Squaresoft managed to fit this long-ass game into mostly 1 disc with the ending on disc 2, the warping between two worlds wasn't confusing, the characters are memorable without much filler, and it even had direct tie-ins and cameos to it's predecessor, Chrono Trigger. The battle system needed work... But looking past that, this game is nearly flawless. 9.5/10



If any game deserves a Remaster or Remake, it's this one.

Yeah, my favorite opening's also a horny woman's vagina (1). But this thread is really about video game openings.
