There's an extremely active thread on the official cyclo forums about this topic, so I figured that I should make one here too.
We all know that Team Cyclops said that they were working on a new GUI, so post what you'd like in the new one.
    -Touch Scrollbar
-Sounds when you click and stuff (customizable)
-Options to have a calendar (like the AK 2), or rom information (like the DSTT) on the top screen
    -Settable Favorite Icons
    Example: [IMG]
(taken from a post in the thread about the redesign at the official forums)

With all these, current skins would work, and it would look alot better IMO.

Also, here's a list of things that have already been suggested:
-/.. dir replaced with some sort of back arrow
-top screen box art display (switchable on/off)
    -mp3/midi theme (customizable)
    -favorites icon (customizable)
-media player with capable playback options
    -calendar with note marker
    -ingame screenshots

Agreed with the calender. It would make for a nice touch.

I hope they do actually redesign the GUI, they said it ages ago. Here's my mock-up that I posted in the Cyclo forums:

    Top Screen Changes:
    - box-arts (for now) - press X to switch between box-art/normal view?

    Touch Screen Changes:
    - tabbed windows: "Games" and "Homebrew"
    - back arrow - rather than the ".." directory
    - cheat icon - could glow red if cheats are activated?
    - mix between ROM and File view - shows more games, takes up less space.

I was actually redesigning it a little last week but my laptop crashed and didn't save so I thought screw it!

Whoa that looks great. I love how you only see the game icon when you scroll over the game. It would save alot of space.

I doubt they're gonna redesign the GUI. Even if they do, it won't happen for a long, long time.

They HAVE been saying that they were going to redo the GUI at some point.

Personally, I just want the ability to delete files through the GUI and continued updates to keep the new games working. I don't really care beyond that.

This was only a few months ago, and it takes longer than a few months to make a GUI as awesome as what they are shooting for.

I'd be happy enough to get a full file view and copy/paste/delete functions. Bells and whistles are not necessary (and even less probable to appear in the near future).

+I love the Box Art concept.
+Replacing the old cmd DOS /.. sounds good as well.
-The DS has a calender already. Not that you can add notes to it but a homebrew could remedy this.

I haven't come across any other ideas that interest me. I'm quite pleased with the current GUI.

    My Idea:
Maybe a theme-like midi running in the background. Would be preferable to be able to customize it as well.

i would like animated gifs to be useable as icons, also a box art for the top screen, and also mabye you could put an mp3 or midi like priss said running in the backround, which could loop and stop when the ds is closed.

I couldn't care less about the GUI. I just skip past it using the Auto-boot last game feature.

I only do that when I REALLY REALLY want to play a game.
Otherwise I like to admire my beautiful skins and decide what to play in my vast list of roms.

Hmm, I haven't had my Cyclo long enough to have much issue with the curent GUI, although I like a lot of the suggestions I've seen posted so far.

I am not sure if this is a GUI issue, but I would like to see the rumble adjustment options on the in-game/cheat menu, that way I can adjust it while playing.

He's just a hater... I'm sure if they made Aeris theme the default midi background of the GUI...
He would never EVER skip to play previous game again !!! [IMG]

There really isn't anything wrong with the GUI. It's just that we're never satisfied with what we have. HURRAH

Give me a better, Sakura-like scrollbar and I'll be happy. Don't really need the fancy stuff. It would be nice if they make the interface more skinable though, like customising folder icons and letting you use a different background when you're selecting games (a bit like what the R4 does).

    The next UI needs...

Virgins and Candy, then i am happy...

(not really, just better scroll bar - because my analness, i cannot no more use cyclo after using M3 real and sakura for so long, now cyclo has to sail between friends who need it, who have not been spoiled by magic of sakura...)

Am I the only one who doesn't like Sakura?
