i don't understand your question how can you play the game online without internet? doesn't make any sense to me.

network play doesn't mean internet...
LAN, Local Area Network , is a network and no need to be have internet.

i have try mario kart this way: one machine set a server on local wifi, the other log via the local wifi network and play together without internet :)
