Hacking What are the chances of a gateway card bricking my 3DS?

I remember hearing at some point that gateway cards had the potential to brick 3DS's, what's the truth behind this? I'm about to get hold of a 3DS on 4.5.0-10E and want to be safe knowing.

1 in however many gateway cards have been sold.

But in all seriousness the code itself (if still there) won't brick your 3DS It's been a good 6 months or so, and there was 3 reported cases. I'd say the bigger worry is you accidentally updating the sysnand instead of emunand, read some tutorials before you do anything.

I think gateway bricks are a thing of the past, they had some drm on the older firmware that was supposed to brick people trying to steal gateway's secrets but it ended up bricking innocent peoples 3DS's
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there have been any reported bricks on firmware 2.6 of gateway.
