I know a9lh is outdated for who knows why and I wonder: what are the advantages of boot9strap over a9lh.. what benifits can I get out of boot9strap besides being updated on luma??

None yet. There may be new stuff in the future that needs b9s, but for now, nothing that a9lh couldn't do.

    Near N3DS
It can dump OTP on any firm. Also dumps boot9 and boot11. Most of the benefit is for people who don't have a9lh. Simpler and safer installation.

It allows us to do things on the PC that had to be done on the 3DS like decrypting and encrypting.

Wait does that mean we can decrypt cias without a 3ds? That would be amazingly helpful for me

Yes. Latest 3dstool should be able to do it.

What people aren't mentioning is it gives access to the arm9 and arm11 cpu at boot. A9lh only has arm9 support for obvious reasons.

Don't forget bigger, possibly unlimited, payload size. It also might make Linux ports a bit more stable since they can have both arm9 and arm11 access at boot. Or at least easier to develop and maintain.

You can dump otp, boot9 and boot11 by holding Start+Select+X when you boot your 3ds just know there isn't anything that's tells you this is being done when you do it, but it dumps to the boot9strap folder on your sd card.

DarkRioru implied, I've made explicit the point that luma won't be updated so others than OP will be aware of this fact.
Actually I didn't got that DarkRioru was aware of it, I blame reading GBAtemp at work.

It's a lot easier to install. That's the primary benefit, from an end-user's perspective.

Looks like I may have to upgrade then, I'm loathe to mess with something that already "just works" perfectly but it seems like in this case its the way. Can someone ping over a guide so I can take a peek, thanks.

It should only take 10 minutes. If you think that's a lot of work, I guess you weren't around in the beginning of A9LH when it took like 8 hours, and we had to compile the payload ourselves, and there was a 30% chance of bricking at every step, and it was difficult enough that there was a LOT of user error that would lead to bricks as well as just from the tools themselves :-)
