I want to have something that backs up the game disc I have in my wii at the time, and makes the tiny version, not the 4.7gb iso. I have no idea what the correct terms are, as you can see. I also want something that can play these backups. What do I need? Do I have to mess with cIOSs? I can't get any wad manager to work, so which is recommended? I'm assuming I need a wad manager to install these cIOSs? I've read some FAQs and noob tutorials but I still don't understand what I'm looking for.

Follow the modify any wii guide in the stickies. Besides, you DON'T need wad manager to install a cIOS. It freezes because you load IOS249 when running it.

All USB loaders scrub games when installing them.

you are looking for the search button in the upper right of your screen. also take some time to just poke around and read and don't expect to be spoon-fed information.

Okay, I've got the NUS downloader, which I'm using to find four .wads that I need to restore the trucha bug so I can install a cIOS so I can use USBLoaderGX to make backups and boot from backups. Problem is, I get unauthorized messages in NUS downloader. What am I doing wrong?

I'm on 4.2u. I used the hackmii installer. I've got dvdx, HBC and the other one installed. It is a new wii so it can't read dvds, so I'm stuck with a usb hard drive. I've got USB_loadergx on the sd card, trucha bug restorer and some other homebrew. when I go into TBR to restore the bug it says I need some ios wads, but NUS downloader won't do that. WHat more info do youneed?

In all the guides I've been looking through all day no one has mentioned that phrase.

There's a key that NUS uses to download things. It's stored in common-key.bin. There's a generator included with Wiiscrubber 1.4, so grab that and run MakeKeyBin.exe. It will make two files called key.bin and kkey.bin. Rename key.bin to common-key.bin and put it in the NUS downloader folder.

These are the ones I'm looking for in NUS:
    IOS15-64-v257.wad
    IOS15-64-v523.wad
    IOS36-64-v3351.wad
    IOS37-64-v3869.wad

This is what NUS gives me:
    --- IOS-64 ---
Starting NUS Download. Please be patient!
    Grabbing tmd.257...
    Download Failed: tmd.257
    - Reason: (401) Unauthorized.

Then go to the link I posted above and follow the instructions....

DOP-IOS MOD 10 will give you the option to "Download IOS from NUS" and do it all for you. Just select "Download IOS from NUS" instead of the SD option and it will automatically download needed IOS files patch and install.

No need to individually download the IOS and put them on the SD card
