i guess mine was a launch wii too(dont really know, had 2.2j firmware on it - i was stuck on 2.2 until they released 3.3)

i bought it about november the year it was released

it was stocked up there for a long time for nobody wanted to buy it because it was a japanese system

now i have a fully functional USA wii thanks to homebrew

Friend of mine got the same story. He has a vulnerable boot2.
Also, importing a Wii from japan is much cheaper these days now, since you can make it a USA Wii in no-time.

Ah camping outside of BestBuy for a launch Wii was actually so fun, regardless of the frigid weather.
boot2v2 ftw!

EDIT: For shits and giggles I decided to look at my serial for the first time. LU10 woot!

Just out of curiousity, does anyone out there have LU00? If those even exist...

btw, u ever consider using dop-mii to update your boot2 to v4 then reinstalling bootmii @ boot2 so it can survive an accidental ninty update?

I just recently finally got around to doing that, went off without a hitch!

I know this probably isn't the thread for it, but to do the boot2 update via dop-mii, you don't need to have an internet connection. But boot2 is nintendo code. But this means that the boot2 update function and the boot2 code are compiled into the program. So if thats the case then dop-mii is illegal to share since it contains nintendo code in it. Unless someone else has an explanation for it, but I doubt anyone does.

I kinda bet the developer either didn't think about that or tried to get it to kinda fly under the radar.

What benefit do people buying their Wii now have compared to the people who bought their Wii 2006? Normally it would be saved money, but the price of the Wii isn't dripped yet. Sorry for not having sympathy for people who bought their Wii in the last half year.
I was at sams club, they had new white wii's for $159 and black wii for $199. I paid $249 for mine.

My 1st Wii was made -just- after the signing bug got fixed. so I traded my fully softmodded Wii to a kid that had a vulnerable boot1/2; he didn't care much about BootMii. Really, I just wanted Mini for Linux support, etc. I can restore NAND w//o it, so it's more there for hardware access than a safety net. But it's a nice bonus!

In retrospect, I'm amazed i didn't brick my first softmod job. It was done back when you had to downgrade from 3.4 to 3.2 in order to get Twilight Hack working. Gotta love the extended Walmart warranty.

Swapped cases so it's still valid. No warranty tape!

Edit: Sam's will have some interesting Wii-related merchandise this holiday season. That's all I'm allowed to say
