After several days of hosting on our personal computer, GBAtemp is now back to Powwebs servers. We have fixed the PHP scripts and hopefully everything will be OK now!

And soon, a new surprise for your GBAtempers! A nice portal hack that you will surely appreciate.

Edit: the little new portal hack is now enabled. Only 10 of the latest posts are now displayed but a new smart box appears below, listing the last five GBA releases (release list to be updated soon). Soon this should also include NDS releases.

sorry about that, hehe
I had to host the website on my computer, in france, with my DSL2+ connection.
It was very constraining, because the hosting used a lot of bandwidth, cpu and hdd load... and for several nights I've had to sleep with my noisy computer on

its near my bed...

good to see it's back. i would like to know though how you sorted it out with the host. also sleeping next to a server is not much of a trouble... i have my server next to me since 2 years now

actually we had too many mysql_connect instructions...
some 'while' loops contained such instructions which would result in 200 connections opening/closing per second... (2 connections per news item, 100 users browsing, 5 news items to display...)

Good to be back though -> and Costello, that's one MEAN internet connection you've got there -> we'd never be given that kind of upstream/downstream capability at home here. Wow!

well how could we know it was our fault?
It has been working fine for the last 6 months and suddenly they closed our website and sent an email afterwards. Also a lot of people had problems with powweb at that time... and we also had that "bandwidth exceeded" error message... nothing to do with SQL connections...

About my DSL2+ connection well it's a 110 kbyte/s upload speed and 1200 kbyte/s download... nice
